Bishop's Castle is a delightful ancient market town with many of the buildings dating from the 17th century. The town boasts two museums (The Railway Museum & The House on Crutches Museum), many fascinating independent shops, numerous pubs and two breweries. There are places to eat whether you want a threee course meal or just a coffee and cake.
There are many places of outstanding beauty in the area including The Long Mynd, the Stiperstones, Offa's Dyke and the Kerry Ridgeway. The tourist office in Bishoip's Castle has a number of walking leaflets. Nearby are several interesting towns including Welshpool, Shrewsbury & Ludlow and the delightful villages of Clun & Montgomery. |
