Itineraries

We offer three alternative standard itineraries of either 10, 20 or 30 days or we can tailor-make your holiday with an itinerary to suit your requirements. To enhance you enjoyment there is a maximum of 7 people on any tour.

10 Day Itinerary

Day 1 (Sat) Arrive at Owlbury, the nearest station is Craven Arms. Guests can be collected from the station by prior arrangement. Taxis may also be taken from airports at extra cost. In the evening, dinner and an introductory discussion.

Day 2 Free day to explore Bishop's Castle and the Railway Museum.

Day 3 Visit the Severn Valley Railway to tour the depot and visit stations and the other interesting infrastructure.

Day 4 We visit Wales and travel to the Llangollen Railway. This standard gauge line is part if the former Ruabon – Barmouth line, passing through the Dee Valley in all it's splendour.

Day 5 The Ffestiniog Railway, one of the longest preserved narrow gauge Welsh railways with Duplex locomotive. We will travel the length of the railway from Blaneau to the cost. Overnight stay in the area.

Day 6 Today we visit the Welsh Highland, a newly constructed railway passing through some spectacular scenery in the Snowdonia National Park.

Day 7 Wales in the home of the preserved narrow gauge steam railway. A visit will be made to the Talyllyn Railway.

Day 8 Today we travel to Welshpool for a trip on the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway.

Day 9 Make a return trip to the Severn Valley Railway, this time we take a trip on Britains premier preserved steam railway. Sixteen miles long, the railway runs from Bridgnorth to Kidderminster, through some of the most unspoiled ountryside in Britain.

Day 10 Hearty breakfast before departure.

20 Day Itinerary

Days 1-9 of above tour

Day 10 Day of rest.

Day 11 Today we travel to Yorkshire.

Day 12/13 Explore the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

Day 14 Visit the scenic fishing village of Whitby, famous for it's fish and chips!

Day 15 A must for all railway enthusiasts, a visit to the National Railway Museum at York

Day 16 Visit Keighly and Worth Valley Railway

Day 17 We travel into Lancashire for a tour of the East Lancs Railway.

Day 18 Travel by main line from Manchester to Craven Arms.

Day 19 Travel on the Heart of Wales line for a return trip from Craven Arms to Swansea.

Day 20 Hearty Breakfast before departure.

30 Day Itinerary

As days 1-19 as 20 day tour

Day 20 Rest day

Day 21 Travel to Devon

Day 22 Visit the Dartmouth Steam Railway

Day 23 Explore the South Devon Railway

Day 24/25 Spend the next two days exploring the West Somerset Railway.

Day 26 Travel back to Owlbury

Day 27 Well earned rest day.

Day 28 Dean Forest Railway

Day 29 Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway.

Day 30 After hearty breakfast before deoarture.

General Information

Because of health and safety regulations it is not possible to casually walk round locomotive depots, wherever possible we will arrange guided tours. No depot tour can be guarenteed as it is up to thediscretion of the railway.

These are sample itineraries and may change depending on time of year.

We cannot accept responsibility for any late arrival/departures or breakdowns on any particular railway. (That also goes for the weather).Please note if you cancel your holiday a charge will be levied as shown in our cancellation charges schedule
